We are on the lookout for a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Manager to join our team in Dooen, VIC to lead the way in optimising inventory levels across all storage facilities, including warehouses, department sheds, and production facilities.

This role will be expected to maintain strong communication with our Grower Liaison Officers, Quality Assurance team (QA) and the National Purchasing Manager to ensure the procurement of hay and straw aligns with Johnson’s quality, logistics, and volume requirements.

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Facilitate the storage of products in depot sheds and/or on-farm storage as instructed by the Senior Grower Liaison and National Purchasing Manager
  • Maintain storage facilities according to prescribed standards to safeguard product integrity via inspections
  • Manage the weighbridge at our production sites and enter/finalise all stock movements
  • Ensure all stock movements align with company SOPs to maintain accurate data to reflect actual stock levels
  • Work alongside the QA team to optimise stock consumption and movements for production
  • Coordinate regular stock takes for financial and sales reporting purposes
  • Oversee inventory processes, ensuring accurate tracking and recording of stock levels across all locations
  • Implement inventory control procedures to minimise stock discrepancies and optimise storage efficiency
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts
  • Collaborate with procurement, production and sales teams to forecast inventory requirements and manage stock replenishment
  • Analyse inventory data to identify trends, slow-moving items, and cost-saving opportunities
  • Train and supervise inventory staff, promoting best practices in inventory management
  • Manage and update inventory software and systems; and
  • Prepare inventory reports, including stock levels, turnover rates, and key metrics for management review.

We’re seeking someone who brings:

  • Strong leadership aptitudes
  • Strong coordination, planning, and organisational aptitudes
  • High-level competency in inventory or accounting management software and tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated proficiency in negotiation
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Operations
  • Proven track record in a similar position within a manufacturing or supply chain setting; and
  • Possession of requisite licenses and certifications relevant to the role.

Our Production Team Members are responsible for ensuring the safe & efficient operation of the hay processing factory within their areas of control during their shift. There are four roles (Loader, String Puller, Plant Operator & Container Loader) and operators will rotate through these according to their skill and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Raw Material Supply & Quality Coordination

  • Assess the export production schedule and program the required volumes according to grade specification and scheduled shift times
  • Liaise with the Production Scheduler to organize schedule to best suit production performance and raw material usage
  • Liaise with growers and contractors to arrange daily deliveries ensuring a strong relationship is maintained with all growers
  • Ensure raw material and finished goods meet customer requirements; and
  • Assist purchasing team during harvest to ensure all hay products are tested and graded according to Johnson’s purchasing standards.

Position Requirements

  • Proven experience in Quality Control and Logistics in the agricultural or related industry
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work in a range of different applications; and

Reporting to operations management, you will ensure that production at our Highbury plant is not interrupted due to unscheduled machinery downtime. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for the maintenance of plant equipment and facilities, troubleshooting production equipment, planning and implementing upgrades and modifications as required, conducting routine inspections, performing preventative maintenance and addressing equipment failures to ensure our equipment performs at optimal safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have fitter and hydraulic experience with strong problem-solving and leadership skills and a commitment to high-quality work and team success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the maintenance team and minimise downtime
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules and ensure data accuracy
  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance activities, including toolbox/pre-start meetings
  • Plan and implement upgrades and modifications to equipment
  • Conduct routine inspections, address equipment failures and maintain safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular stock takes and maintain spare parts register
  • Drive the Maintenance Programme / Schedule, including reporting and diagnostics
  • Manage call-outs to minimise costs and participate in breakdown resolution
  • Maintain plant, equipment, tools and workshop housekeeping
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are trained and competent for their roles
  • Promote a safety-first culture and adhere to all WHS policies and procedures

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to mentor, motivate and lead a team
  • Trade qualification in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical (or equivalent)
  • Strong problem-solving and coordination skills
  • Experience with maintenance systems such as MEX (or similar)
  • Fitter and hydraulic experience
  • Able to use initiative with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage budgets
